As the darkness fell, and the tenth doctor stepped back into his TARDIS ready for the next trip, he straightened his tie and took one last glance of the beautiful fields of Fremandale. It wasn't a very well known planet, and the inhabitants liked to keep it that way. Maybe that was the reason they followed and chased him with their spear-like weapons, en tried to curse him with spells that did not sound very comfortable. If he had to believe them he'd not be able to sit for weeks, and him being the Doctor, he immediately wanted to try it out. Not here though, sure, he was a daredevil and kind of weird, but no-one could ever call him stupid. They'd often called him an idiot though, which had always amused him, sometimes they'd even been right! Anyhoo, nobody would call him an idiot for staying on this planet too long, 'cause he wasn't planning to. Living up to that thought he closed the doors of his spaceship, telephone box -who cared? It was epic- and set off into the vortex looking for his new destination. The navigation of his ship was not really good, or maybe it was, it just never felt like living up to the expectations others had of it, so really it was a surprise for him to see where he'd turn up this time. All the same he felt like he could use an adventure, those creatures of Fremandale were sure as hell interesting, but not adventurous at all.

CRACKED CROWNS

BROKEN PRINCES
It was dark, like pure black chocolate which enveloped all but a boy. The boy's eyes were closed, his expression solemn. The boy seemed to be around seventeen years old -give or take- and appeared deadly calm. The boy's birth name was Julius, a name the boy wasn't particularly fond of, and so everyone who was everyone referred to him as Hyde. Hyde was born with hair the colour of the sky and rain drowned eyes to match it. His hair, though usually a bit shorter, almost reaches his shoulders, the left side bound up into a roughly tied ponytail. Hyde's right eye is partially covered by his long bangs, that tend to hide the right-half of his face whenever he doesn't tuck it behind his ears. The rest of Hyde's body seems awfully plain compared to what or rather who is hiding inside that pretty skull of his.

Behind those eyes the colour of tears there seems to be something amiss, or more precisely, different. Hyde never saw his 'issue' as incurable or some impassable wall. Hyde hates those words with every fibre of his being, and one wouldn't be wise to use them within his earshot. But no, he thinks of his troubles as any other disease and he knows- rather, he believes that it's entirely curable if he just keeps resisting.

A couple of years ago Julius was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder(DID in short), a pretty rare mental disorder. Even though there are multiple cases of DID and there has been plenty of research, this mental disorder can't seem to be cured nor diagnosed properly. DID is characterized by at least two distinct and relatively enduring identities or dissociated personalities that alternately control a person's behaviour, and is usually accompanied by memory impairment for important information which is not explained by ordinary forgetfulness.

At the beginning, there were only two personalities. Julius refers to them now as William and Silk. William is an ordinary boy who seems to be smarter and more knowledgeable than his host (Julius/Hyde himself), but has a severe case of chronic depression. William isn't a hostile personality, he's not considered dangerous to others, only to himself. There have been episodes where William tried to take his own life, or him hurting himself (he seems to have an obsession with sharp things). Luckily he has never had the balls to actually pull through and is thus considered as fairly docile. Silk on the other hand, is known for his dangerously dominant characteristics. He's quicker with his fists than with his brain and there have been multiple cases over the years, of severe attacks and near-homicide. He's considered as Hyde's most dangerous personality and is seriously not someone whom you should deliberately cross. Yes, Silk and William were the first personalities, they were joined by four others over the years, making a total of six 'others' inside of Hyde's head, which tends to make things chaotic for Hyde. (I won't be describing the others for now...)

What triggers his DID isn't clear, but it seems to have something to do with heavy emotions, particularly emotions and feelings of pain. As you might believe, Hyde tends to avoid these kinds of emotions and trains himself daily to deal with these kind of situations. This isn't made any easier by the memory impairment that follows when he reverts back from one personality to himself (Hyde) again. He often wakes up at strange places with cuts and bruises that weren't there a couple hours before. What's even more strange is all the people that seem to know him, but that he doesn't seem to recognise at all. This often makes for difficult, awkward and sometimes fairly painful experiences. But enough of all the dry dusty information, let us move back a little to the boy inside the darkness.

'Where was he?' 'Was he himself, or did Silk take over the steering wheel again?' These kind of thoughts occupy Hyde's mind for a while, and after what seemed like ten minutes, but were really like a couple of seconds, he decided he was himself -Hyde- and opened his eyes. The sudden light that beamed into his retina made Hyde blink painfully, after which his eyes slowly got used to the decent amounts of sunlight that was streaming in. He sighed, obviously relieved, as he found himself in his own room, without cuts, head injuries or other blemishes. He rolled around his bed, realising it was wet and kinda stinky. He must've been having a nightmare, and a really bad one at that. The nightmares weren't unusual, in fact Hyde had them pretty frequently. He never got used to them however, and each one seemed more vivid than the previous one. They always had one thing in common though, they always left him vexed and more exhausted than before he had went to sleep.

Hyde -not wanting to roll around in a sweat drenched bed- crawled out of it, suppressing the chills that ran along his spine as the sudden morning chill got to him. He shook his head, rubbing his tired eyes fervently. As he had nothing to do that morning, he decided to take a shower, enjoying the lukewarm water as it ran along his cold body. The warm shower had left him in high spirits, and the morning flew by without much irregularities which is a rare blessing for Hyde. It soon came to him however, that since that morning he had been suppressing the thought of his appointment that afternoon. Hyde sighs and takes a quick glance away from his book to check the time. There was still plenty of time if he headed out right now.. A couple of seconds later, Hyde sighed a second time, this time closing the book which he had been reading for the previous few hours. Reluctantly he got up and grabbed his coat, putting it on feverishly as he thought about what was about to concur. He was going to have to sit there for hours.. after which the only conclusion would be that there wasn't any improvement whatsoever and that he should continue what he had been doing for the last couple of years. Should he give up, after all? Was there really no solution at the bottom line? He tinkered with these thoughts as he wrapped himself with a scarf and left the safe haven, that was his apartment.

The fresh air outside hit him like titanic hit the iceberg. Although cold and slightly painful, it was nice breathing in some clean, oxygen-rich air. It left him feeling alive and somehow in control of his situation which was an extremely rare sensation for someone with DID. He quickly decided not to over think the sudden boost of control and decided to just enjoy it while it lasted. Suddenly, out of nowhere something in the middle of the street materialized. It was nothing like he had seen before, at least not here in Japan. The whole appearance of something out of nowhere made his heart beat angrily. Would this trip to the shrink really prove to be to much for him? It was just an apparition, nothing too.. strange, Right..? ''I'm definitely going even more crazy.'' he whispered to himself, a sad undertone full of desperation clinging to each and every word. He watched the strange object with a great deal of apprehension, somehow stuck to the ground like glue. Hyde felt suddenly vulnerable, as if he were naked. The feeling of control that he had just now had blown away with the wind, leaving him now utterly defenceless from the growling monsters within.

*I'm sorry dat hij zo lang is. Ik probeerde hem zo kort mogelijk te houden, maar er waren bepaalde dingen die je moest weten. :']
Hope you like. Please give some kind of feedback. I'd like to improve in any way I can. C:

Well, the ride wasn't what he'd call smooth, but he managed and as long as he managed he wouldn't complain. There were lots of things that were so much worse than an uncomfortable ride in his time-travel machine, that he could not really complain without immediately feeling spoiled. He did however make a face when the TARDIS seemed to hit a hole in time, and het got thrown backwards, on his bum. Those creatures sure didn't lie when they said he would not be able to sit, blimey it hurt! He stroked it with his hand, still having the expression on his face, and decided that a pillow would be quite an improvement to his ship. Mental note was made, and soon he got back at the controls so he would make a save land. If someone asked him is he was a good pilot, or travel-guide as he liked to call himself, he'd usually shake his head and laugh at them for thinking that. At this moment however, he actually did find himself quite a good traveler, because the landing was perfect. Sure, a bit bumpy and maybe not so safe, for he was parked in the middle of a street so it seemed, but always better than a crash.
No time was to be wasted now, adventure was undoubtedly out there, and waiting for him. So he ran to the garderobe, grabbed his coat, dashed to the doors of the ship, burst through them, and skidded to a halt as soon as his converse sneakers hit the tar of the road. Gee. He did kind of hope for a more interesting scenery, but this would have to do. It could be that the other side of the TARDIS was facing a better view, although that would've been quite odd had it been true. Since he was indeed parked in the middle of a near-empty street. Near-empty, because it wasn't completely empty, for there was a boy standing on it, facing him and his phone box. The Doctor promptly got a laugh on his face, and waved at the other. Living creatures that weren't after his blood! Maybe this wouldn't turn out to be the most boring day after all.

-That was a lot of information indeed. Very interesting though!
